Tennessee Talk for March 5, 2008

Short and sweet today as I'm at home with a sick wife and crabby daughter. Big game tonight against the Gators - I'll have my take on it in the morning. Quick prediction - the Gators really need this one to make the tournament. It will be a tough, tough win for the exhausted Vols.

Basketball Recruiting News

You won't find anyone who cares less about recruiting news than me, but the news out of Knoxville is great right now. The Vols appear to have a back-up point guard for next year in Michigan's Daniel West, a couple of big bodies in East Ridge's Phillip Jurick and California's Renaldo Wooldrige and, the signature signee thus far, Georgia's Kenny Hall. The last of the bunch turned down Kentucky, UCLA and Georgia for the Vols.

The last scholarship available for the Vols is being saved for McDonald's All-American Scotty Hopson. If he picks Tennessee over Kentucky and Louisville (Hopson is from Kentucky), it will be quite a coup for the Vols. There is no doubt Pearl can recruit and his style of play is surely an easier sell than Billy Ball up in Lexington. For those worried about the post-Lofton Vols, it looks like everything is going to be just fine.

See you in the morning.
