Kotsay to the Red Sox

J.D. Drew's current trip to the DL apparently prompted this. I really liked Kotsay as a Brave-- I'm excited.

Maximum Jack is all over it these days. I clicked onto the blog with the purpose of writing a quick Kotsay article and BAM! there it is.

The trade makes sense for both teams. The Sox are getting little/nothing out of Crisp and now Drew is hurt. It is a good thing they still have Manny...oh, wait.

For the Bravos, the future is either Jordan Schaeffer or Josh Anderson, so no point throwing Kotsay out there on a team that can't really compete yet anyway. There was a chance he was one and one with Atlanta, so now we get something. I wouldn't mind getting Joey Devine back from the A's, but I did like the trade at the time.

What's wrong with expecting Chang to be an asian kid and Dontrell to be a black kid? I think this new ethos of celebrating diversity often comes with a strange tendency to...deny diversity. Chang is a common asian family name, as is Lee, Lim, Ho, etc. are also common names. I have never known a white person named Chang and it doesn't seem unreasonable to expect "Chang" to be an asian person. People from different ehtnicities often exhibit distinct cultural practices. What's wrong with recognizing that?

Yes, yes...you are making me feel better. There are white names, black names, Asian names, etc. It is insulting to pretend we don't all know that.

How's Chi-Town?
